Music competition
All India Radio is organising a music competition for encouraging new talent. The competition will be held in two stages - preliminary, which will be held at each station of AIR and the final, which will be held in Delhi and Chennai for Hindustani and Carnatic music respectively.
The candidates will have to pay an entry fee of Rs.100. The amount has to be sent to the Station Director, AIR, Visakhapatnam by Money Order. The competition is open to those between 16 to 24 years of age as on June 30, 2003. They should not be performing artistes of AIR.
The competition will cover the following categories: vocal music(classical, light, devotional, Hindustani and Carnatic music), light classical(only for Hindustani and Gajal singing); instrumental music (classical and light music-Hindustani and Carnatic music) and Vrindgaan (chorus).
The winners in the premilinary will be eligible for participation the final competition. Suitable prizes will be awarded to the winners in the final. Application forms can be had from the Station Director of the nearest AIR Station in their area. The last date for receipt of entries is June 6, 2003.
