A sky spectacle in store
An awe-inspiring spectacle that would light up the metro skyline above the L. Bullayya College grounds is slated for the evening of the sixth day of the six month of this year (6-6-2003), as part of the Sri Lakshmi Narayana Kratuvu to be conducted under the supervision of Tridandi Sri Rangaramanuja Jeeyar Swami from June 2.
Christened `Akasa Deeparadhana', it will take place on the sixth weekday (Friday), when 6,666 devotees participating in the 'kratavu' will release into the air the glowing lamps clamped to helium-filled balloons. It will be preceded by a Lakshmi Kataksha Sibiram.
Probably the biggest and grandest devotional event in the State, it has been conceived by the Jeeyar Swami for ushering in world peace and prosperity by invoking the blessings of Lord Narayana and Sri Mahalakshmi.
Another star event of the nine-day programme will be the presence of eight Jeeyar Swamis from different Vaishanavite `divyadesams' on June 3 and their discourses at the venue. Tridandi Sri China Srimannarayana Ramanuja Jeeyar Swami is flying specially from Badrinath for this purpose.
Sri Rangaramanuja Jeeyar Swami intends to conduct this `kratavu' by involving people in the one-crore Astakshari Nama Yagnam, for which booklets have been distributed free of cost to individual households by volunteers, conducting a million Narayana Mantra Havanam on all days by `ritwiks' seated in front of 24 homakundams and feeding one lakh `tadeeyulu' (devotees longing for God).
Four of the 24 mantra havana kundams are earmarked for Sri Mahalakshmi, Hayagriva, Narasimha and Sudarsana to end financial problems, backwardness in education and ailments and attaining success and fulfilment in all human endeavours.
In addition, specific to individual needs, small homas called `ishtis' will be conducted. They include Narrasimheshti for warding off evil forces, Vaibhaveshti for securing a place in Vaikuntham, Hayagriveshti for educational progress of problematic children, Lakshmi-Narayaneshti for redeeming the loss in wealth, position and business, Vainetheshti or Putrakameshti for progeny and Parameshti and Sudarsaneshti for healthy and successful life.
The programme at the `kratavu sala' would run like this every day: 7 a.m. Tirtha Ghosthi by the Jeeyar; 8 a.m. Sundarakanda Saamuhika Paaaraayanam; 9 a.m. Tulasi Puja by devotees; 4.30 p.m. Saamuhika Lakshmi-Narayana Puja by devotees under the guidance of the Jeeyar; 6 p.m. Vishnu Sahasranama paaraayanam followed by discourses; 9 p.m. Lakshmi-Narayana Kalyanam.
Besides these, special Ishta Kamya Siddhi Paaraayana will be performed in the mornings on behalf of devotees with specific needs. An astrologer will be available to guide such devotees in selecting the particular paaraayana and archanas.
A 24-hour non-stop chanting of the Bhagavadgita and Vishnu Sahasranamam will also be conducted on all days. The daily recital of the four Vedas, the Ramayana, the Bhagavatha, the Vishnu Puranam, `Nalayira Divya Prabandham' (Dravida Vedam) by scholars is another facet of the programme.
The `poornahuti' will be performed at 10 a.m. on June 10, marking the culmination of the `kratuvu'.
