THE LURE for wealth, power and its disastrous results - the plot has it all. Though the filmmakers claim to have been inspired by films such as Fire or Astha, this subject treks an altogether different path. It projects the travails of an ambitious, married woman Visali (Suma Ranganath), who craves for a rich and comfortable life.
Visali's marital life with her husband Radhakrishna (Vivek Anand) hits rock bottom. He does not measure up to her expectations. The scene shifts to a corporate office where money is the name of the game. Visali agrees to model for an ad film. She finds here what she was always looking out for--freedom, and a young man whom she dreamt of.
This is the peak point of the drama, from where the reformation process begins. Visali soon realises that she has to give up tradition, culture and morals in order to get what she wants.. She starts looking back at her married life, and the honest and innocent man who truly loved her. .
The original film was made in Tamil and this is its dubbed version. Some of the voices used for dubbing are poor. Dialogue writer Magapu Ammiraju observes sense of proportion in arguing the case from the heroine point of view. But for Suma Ranganath, most of the artistes are unfamiliar faces. The journey of Visali into a morally disastrous area and then quickly retracing her steps into a sane world is the saving grace of her character and the film. Vivek Anand, playing Visali's husband looks decent.
