The new Khan

THE MAN who is making waves in Bollywood these days is Irfan Khan after his riveting performance as a villain in director Tigmanshu Dhulia's "Haasil". The film takes a look at the politician-criminal nexus in a college campus. Irfan Khan's claim to fame was his performance in Asif Kapadia's "The Warrior" which got two international awards.

In "Haasil", Irfan plays Ran Vijay Singh who straddles the show like a colossus and has made an impact like Amjad Khan did in the role of Gabbar Singh in "Sholay".

Another shot in the arm for Irfan was when Hollywood major Miramax brought "The Warrior" for distribution in the U.S. as they felt that this "Asian actor has tremendous screen presence!" This Jaipur-based actor graduated from the National School Of Drama and is now flooded with offers from Bollywood `masala' directors as they feel this "villain" can bring in the crowds.
