The Chellammal Women's College, Guindy, and the Dr. MGR Janaki College for Women, Adyar, offer a wide variety of courses.

SOUTH CHENNAI is home to various women's colleges — some are among the oldest in the area (the Chellammal Women's College, Guindy), while others are relatively new (the MGR Janaki College for Women, Adyar).
The Chellamal Women's College, which is part of Pachiayappa's Trust, has a history of its own. The college was once a hostel for underprivileged students from other cities. As the Pachiayappa's Trust was dedicated to using the land for education, the hostel was transformed into a college campus in 1971 and called the Chellammal Women's College. The college is affiliated to the University of Madras and offers Tamil, English, Mathematics, Physics, Botany, Zoology and Economics at the undergraduate level and Tamil, English at the post graduate level. An M.Phil course in Tamil is also available. In addition, the evening college offers a Computer Science undergraduate programmes and post-graduate degrees in Mathematics and Information Technology. The Dr. M.G.R. Janaki College of Arts and Science for Women is relatively young. It was started in 1996 in memory of the late Chief Minister M.G. Ramachandran and his wife Janaki Ramachandran. This college, on Durgabhai Deshmukh Road, aims to develop students' ability to think critically and creatively and tries to create social awareness among students and inculcate a sense of social responsibility.
The courses offered at the undergraduate level are Bio-chemistry, Microbiology, Computer Science, Psychology, Business Administration, Commerce and Computer Application. At the post-graduate level, the college offers Bio-informatics, Information Technology and Human Resources Management. Apart from these full-time courses the college also conducts short-term courses in Human Resources Management, Marketing Management and Entrepreneurship.
