Beauty, the natural way

AYURVEDA... THAT'S the magic word these days, especially in the realm of beauty care. Beauty care has gone herbal all over the world, and it is no different in India. Shahnaz Hussain and Blossom Kochhar are but some names that come to mind immediately when one thinks of herbal or aroma products.

As for corporates, one of the most well known names is that of the Himalaya Drug Company, which is today synonymous with the elegant Dadima and the Ayurvedic Concepts range.

At a one-day seminar jointly organised by the All India Beauty Specialists and Hair Dressers Association and Himalaya Herbal Health Care at the GRT Grand Days on Tuesday, the emphasis was on skin and hair treatment using a wide range of Himalaya products. These products are already available in the market, and the aim of the seminar was to create awareness about them.

During the morning session, Dr. Rangesh, senior medical advisor of the company, ran the entire gamut of products and explained what each one of them contained. The range included cleansers, astringents, face packs (for oily and dry skin types), anti-wrinkle creams, moisturisers, face wash, anti-dandruff shampoo and hair oil, conditioners and hand and body lotion.

Extracts of apple, neem, wheat, amla, coriander, aloe vera, cucumber, carrot, bhringaraja, methi and other such products of Nature go into the making of these products, said Dr. Rangesh.

Naina Ramesh, a beautician from Bangalore, demonstrated the use of these products.

Another point highlighted was the Botox or botulinum toxin treatment to remove wrinkles. This treatment is gaining popularity and more and more women and men are opting for Botox to get rid of crow's-feet and wrinkles around the forehead and mouth.

The Himalaya range of cosmetics is available at its exclusive outlets in Triplicane, East Anna Nagar, Mylapore, Adyar and NSC Bose Road.
