Towering tale

Yet another clock tower calls for attention

Besides the well-known Clock Tower on the St. Mary's Road, and the James Street clock tower, there is yet another clock tower known as "Dundoo Clock Tower" which forms the gateway to the General Market near the Old Jail. Nudged by other modern structures nearby, hardly few people notice its presence today inspite of its location in the busy Monda Market yard. It definitely deserves a face - lift to attract peoples' attention. This tall elegant clock tower was designed by a famous British architect and was inaugurated by the then SC president, Lt Col. AJ Vann in 1940. The tower is still intact, but the clock ceased to function long ago. If this beautiful clock tower is not preserved and maintained, an important part of the Secunderabad's heritage will be lost forever.
