GOOD BARGAIN Poompuhar's collection is available at a discount of 10 per cent
Poompuhar, the outlet of the Tamil Nadu Handicrafts Development Corporation Ltd., has an ongoing exhibition that concludes on July 15. Called the Crafts Mela, the exhibition-cum-sale is on at Kassia Hall, Karnataka Small Scale Industries Association, No. 2/106, 17th Cross, Magadi Chord Road, Vijayanagar.
On display are a wide range of brass oil lamps, bronze icons, jewellery, incense and perfumery. Also available are bed sheets, dress materials and Madurai Sungadi saris. Leather items, seashells, valampiri shanku and pottery are the other things one can choose from. Customers can also avail themselves of a 10 per cent discount. Diagold is conducting an exhibition of its latest collection on July 12 at The Atria Hotel and on July 14 at Hotel Grand Ashok.
The collection, titled The Vibgyor, uses stones that represent the various colours of the rainbow. Thus, pieces of the collection sport amethysts (violet) with diamonds, rodolites (indigo), sapphires (blue), emeralds (green), amber or topaz (yellow), corals (orange) and rubies (red). According to the makers, the collection is an interplay of textured gold with sparkling diamonds, black leather with red coral, mother of pearl with uncut diamonds, white coral with black diamonds, turquoise with beaten gold sheets and more.
