Masks and the moods

Of masks from across the globe at The Heritage

Happy, sad, anxious, mischievous... . The Heritage, A-7, Anna Nagar, is holding an exhibition of masks with varied expressions from different parts of the world.

The creations come in terracotta, wood and ceramic. Intricately hand crafted, each tells a tale. Egyptian masks mounted on mirrors and masks in rare forms and colours from Indonesia, Thailand and Sri Lanka form part of the collection.

The biggest mask depicts the Buddha (two-and-a-half ft, priced at Rs. 9,500).

There are solo pieces as well as pairs and families for those who wish to collect (there are families of four and six). Small terracotta masks mounted on bevelled glass make an interesting statement. The masks designed by The Heritage's in-house artisans are distinct for the expressions and bejewelled look. The range starts at R. 300.

Also on show are paintings, artefacts and waterfalls to enliven interiors. For details call 98400 70026/ 26191409.
