An exhibition of Kiripuranji: Contemporary Art from the Tiwi Islands, is opening on July 22, from 6:30 p.m. 9:00 p.m. at the Indian Art Gallery A&B, State Gallery of Fine Art, Kavuri Hills, Madhapur. The Exhibition is a part of AusArts India: film, arts, literature, a cultural promotion programme supported by the Australian Government through the Australia International Cultural Council (AICC). The exhibition will present a collection of contemporary indigenous Australian paintings that reflect the richness of Tiwi culture that includes work on paper, paintings, carved and painted ceremonial poles and textiles. The exhibition will also commemorate the National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee week (NAIDOC week), which is an observance to mark the contributions of Indigenous culture and people to modern day Australia.
The exhibition will be on view until August 5, 10:30 a.m. -7.00 p.m.
