PERFECT SETTING Frames standout in the environment if the selection is in tune with the interiors.
Apart from books, friends and pets what could be the best company that one can look for when the hair starts greying? Options may vary from person to person but one thing that can rejuvenate a person and bring back colour to the receding hairline, at least for a brief period, is the photograph of the past era.
A beautifully framed photograph of the university pass out event or a college picnic would certainly bring back the smile along with the sweet memories. Photographs and paintings play a vital role in human life. They are sentimentally and emotionally attached to one's life. And they can play a longer role if they are framed.
The encasement of photographs and paintings not only helps in keeping them safe from dust, scratches and other potential mishaps but are also designed to keep the printed memories alive and in good health.
"With the advent of soap operas, the concept of framed photographs has changed. In earlier days, it was limited to the pictures of God and Goddess or someone who was dead. The television serials have changed the outlook of the people. Today a few frames in the living room have become a must. Photo frames have become part of interiors," says Bala of Frames.
According to him, frames are like a dress to a person. It not only adds value to the picture or photograph but also embellishes the entire environment.
Choice of frames
Photo frames can be found not only in different shapes and sizes but are also made up of different material. They can be of wood, marble, brass, steel, black metal, glass or beads. The scope and choice is huge and the price may range from Rs. 100 to Rs. 10,000.
PVC the in-thing
While there are many materials for framing, PVC seems to be in control of the industry. "PVC-moulded frames are in huge demand at present. They are not only attributed with qualities like light, waterproof and low maintenance but also top in aesthetics and economics. With the advent of PVC moulded frames, lamination of photographs have taken a backseat. Moulded frames not only come in different shapes and sizes but also in various hues and finish. One can get a perfect wood finish or a gold plated finish at a very economic rate.
Moulded frames satisfy both the taste and the pocket and it is well within the range of a common man," adds Mr. Bala.
Selection of frames
Frames standout in the environment if the selection is perfect. A frame should never dominate the picture within it. It should blend with the picture and the background. "Before putting a frame, one should look into small details like thickness of the frame, colour combination of the frames, the space and the colour on the wall," says Kiran Kumar of Suchitra Frames and Art Gallery.
Another trend that is rapidly catching up is the foam based diamond pictures of deities embedded with chanting and elaborate light arrangements.
Gift
A couple celebrating a milestone anniversary may enjoy receiving a retouched image of their wedding photo or a special moment captured on film from their earlier days together. A combination of a photo with a frame can act as perfect gift and enliven the occasion. It can serve as a lifelong memento to the person.
"If you are giving the gift of a photo, select the perfect picture frame to go with it and make sure that it matches with the decorations at home," says Bala.
