Block prints beckon
After contemporary expression in steel, vibrant furnishings and endless bric-a-brac, lifestyle store Vibe has something more to offer Coimbatoreans — the Jaipur based design label, Soma. Over the years, Soma's design team has come to be known for its innovation.
No mechanical processes are involved in any stage. All garments are stitched on simple treadle sewing machines. Buttons and beads are then added.
Available at the Soma store at Vibe are a range of vibrant garments embellished with block prints and other aesthetic expressions. Choose from scarves, skirts, dresses, salwar suits, jackets, men's shirts, shorts and children's wear.
Rhythm of ecstasy
This time around, it is going to be "Rhythm of ecstasy" at the Kasthuri Sreenivasan Trust Culture Centre on Avanashi Road.
The oil and watercolour paintings of P. Manickavachagam will be on display at the centre from July 26 to 31 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The artist is a lecturer in fine arts in the Department of Architecture at National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli.
Manickavachagam has exhibited his works in over 15 exhibitions, designed murals as well as won a few awards. His works adorn the walls of places like Hotel Woodlands, Singapore, and Natyalaya, a dance school in Melbourne. For details, call 0422-2574110.
