Kantha work

Rich Kantha work kurtis, salwars and saris are available in designer shades like Kingfisher blue and rust, all embellished with intricate work. Phone sachets with Kantha work are also available at Rs. 50. Exquisite Bengal saris are bound to be a hit, as will the Maheswari saris and cotton material that come with various animal, floral and geometric motifs and delightful colours. Those who want to try their hand at block printing can do so. Blocks with various designs are there on sale.

Delicate terracotta necklaces and earrings are available. From Orissa, don't miss the silver filigree work; choose from the selection of finger rings, bangles, hair clips and more.

An outfit is rarely complete without the right kind of bag. And the fair has a wide range for the discerning eye. With zari panelling, the bags are a bargain at Rs. 150.

For those who would like to give a gift to relatives or friends, `Pattachitra,' elaborate hand painted palm leaves from Orissa will be a good choice. Painted silk wall paintings will make a favourable impression too.
