Sandeep Jain of Adore, Jaipur designs chunky haute jewellery for international clientele as also Bollywood, back home. Kareena Kapoor is one of his buyers. He is in town with his gold and silver jewellery— chains of gold, shells and chandelier earrings made of emerald strings, at the Hyderabad International Gems & Jewellery Exposition. Matching the haute opulence is the Hyderabadi nawabi chic collection in pearls, jadawi and gold. And there are more lines from across the country and a few international houses with their collections as well.

If the fabled JCK Las Vegas and Vicenza and the closer home India International Jewellery Show, Mumbai are sought after jewellery expos, the twin cities follow suit with its own version, now into its second year. Apart from being a platform for buyers and sellers, the exhibition lines up seminars and workshops for jewellery buffs.

"Seminars such as `Know your Diamond', `Jewellery as an investment,' and `Reaching global jewellery buyer through the Internet' with be organised for the visitors during the expo," says Mohan Lal Gupta, vice president, Twin Cities Jewellers Association. "This is a platform not only for exhibiting jewellery as also latest in machine tools and accessories in the industry as also to project the State for its gem and jewellery export," says Sarvesh Jain, manager marketing, HITEX.

The expo is an ideal event to check the new trends. Hyderabad's flat diamond flake studded jewellery is in vogue as also tourmaline in ten new shades. Stainless steel jewellery is for those who want their jewellery hatke. Workwear from Thailand and rakhis in gold and diamond are some of the popular exhibits around.
