K. G. Narendra Babu's paintings on show at Ayya Art Galleries

Ayya Art Galleries is showcasing the Dreams Series, a collection of paintings done in contemporary style, by artist K. G. Narendra Babu. The exhibition is on till August 16. Narendra is an artist who tries to capture the images of his dreams, or what remains of them in the waking state. These images appear jumbled, some floating in the air, some standing and some stretched horizontally. One may wonder at this style, but will soon realise that one doesn't look for logic in images that are the stuff of dreams.
There are sculpted images in temples, horses, yazhis, birds, animals carved in wood, men and women adorning the pillars of temples, characters in gorgeous costumes and buffoons floating in the sky, crowding the canvas. They are drawn in great detail. Narendra Babu has a Post Diploma in Painting from the Government College of Arts and Crafts, Madras. He has specialised in fresco work, participated in more than 20 all-India exhibitions, group shows and held solo shows. He has won several prestigious awards too.
