Education with values

`Education's purpose is to replace an empty mind with an open one,' says Malcom Forbes. University of Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) is about to prove his words true. It hosted the first International Education Conference for principals and head teachers across South Asia at the Grand, New Delhi the other day. It was aimed at bringing together teachers and tutors on a common platform to share ideas, develop successful tools and educational methods. The objective of the event was to lay the grounds for experienced educators to develop best teaching practices.

The conference organised by Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) with over 330 delegates, representing 168 schools from India and abroad covered topics relating to education and the role it should play in a student's overall development. Incidentally, CIE is a non-profit organisation, which strives to provide world-class education worldwide. Millions of students participate in CIE examinations annually. CIE provides a range of qualifications and its programmes attempt to develop creative and critical thinking at the same time. These include Cambridge IGCSE, Cambridge O Level, Cambridge International A and AS level, and the new International Primary Programme that are recognised by universities and employers worldwide.Ann Putnis, Chief Executive, CIE says, "Our diverse classroom practices bring free thinking in students. For us education is not just about Science and Maths, but our aim is to develop independent thinking."
