Go for glitter

Kahawa has some cool haute stuff for the festive season

Pick me up For home and hearth

Kahawa Gallery for Design, a design space for “Art, Craft and Design” continues to promote upcoming designers and artists. Whether they are clothes, home accessories like ceramic ware, photo frames, slippers or gift boxes, the entire rang e is hand-crafted and made from natural fabric. Says Nishi Rahman of Kahawa: “We even assist budding artists in materials or free space to display their works.”

At the Gallery, you will find upmarket, Bollywood inspired clothes like long tops and saris and footwear with a lot of sequins and bright colours. On the shelves, are also pretty gift options ranging from candles, paper products like gift boxes, river grass table and floor mats, diaries, agarbhatti stands and more. The ceramic wares like bowls are of sober, earthy hues like greys and browns. There are also semi precious jewellery to complete the glitterati look, with bags and belts.

But the highlight of the gallery this season are definitely the Xmas decorations – sequin ridden balls, bells and stars and stockings really add to the festive look. Also, the wreaths put together in cloth are a unique buy. Most of the products have been made to support underprivileged women – so spare a thought this Christmas before you go out on a spending spree in the market.

Kahawa is at Kareem Towers, 19/5/6 Cunningham Road, behind Café Coffee Day and is open from Monday to Saturday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Call 41510488.
