Sweet Potato Poli

Ingredients

For the dough

Maida : 2 cups

Turmeric powder: a pinch

Water: as required

Salt: a little

Gingelly oil : 1/2 cup

For the filling

Sweet potato : 1/2 kg

Sugar : 1 cup

Ghee : 2 tbsp

Khus Khus, fried and powdered : 1 to 2 tbsp

Elaichi powder : 1/2 tsp

Method

First make the dough adding all items including sufficient oil. The dough should be little loose.Keep aside for 1/2 an hour covering with a lid.

Heat a kadai, add ghee. To this, add the peeled, boiled and finely mashed sweet potatoes. Stir well. Add sugar. After sometime add the khus khus powder. When the mix becomes dry,without any water content, remove from fire.Add finely powdered elaichi. If needed, use little kesar colour(yellow color) while stirring the mixture.

Make balls of the dough, flatten it with a pin, (can use rice flour for flattening the dough).Take a small portion of the filling mix, put in the centre of the dough, cover and remove the excess dough. Then roll out them into round shapes.

Heat a tawa and put the poli in. When cooked, turn You can use ghee andgingelly oil mixed for frying the polis. When cooked on both sides, remove. Delicious poli is ready.
