A match to remember
Cricket is a very popular game in India. Every year we play several international matches. People gather around TVs or radios to keep track of the score.
I enjoy the game very much. I would like to tell you about an inter-college match in my cousin's college that I saw. My cousin was a member of his college team. In December last year, they played a match against another city college. Before the match began, the umpires inspected the pitch.
My cousin's captain won the toss and decided to bat first. So the captain and Keshav, the opening batsmen, took guard. Raju, the opposition's best fast bowler started bowling from the river end. It was a tough time for both batsmen.
Many anxious moments passed before the captain hit a sixer and two fours in a row. This increased the morale of the other batsmen. Finally their score was a little more than 100. After lunch, the other team came in to bat. They were confident of victory, as my cousin's team had notched up a humble score.
But my cousin bowled with a whirlwind speed and terrorised the batsmen in a span of seven overs. He dismissed five batsmen. Their morale was totally shattered. They could make only 109 runs before the end of the stipulated overs.
My cousin's team was elated at winning the match. My cousin was declared the Man of the Match unanimously.
