Small joys
Happiness is in the first summer rain,
Peace in loneliness after long, long pain,
Joy pervading in a sweet friend's smile,
In long awaited letters in the mail.
Words of praise, from an elderly one,
Surprise visits of kith and kin,
For sharp words of caution from ones who care,
There is smell of wet sand in the air.
The joy to hear melodies when alone..
The pleasant light of a full moon.
The chirp of the blue birds beside the window pane,
Occasions to taste a juicy sugarcane,
To see a silver line eclipse a black cloud,
Memories of caring words that were told,
Knowing that the dear one prayed for you,
Are profound joys, good and true.
Like little drops of water making a mighty ocean,
Finding joy in small things, would make
Life for me.
