A teacher or a computer?
The turn of the 21st Century has brought many changes. Everything is now done with the help of a computer. Computers are replacing people in factories and banks. But can they replace teachers? I don't think it is ever possible.
Teachers play an important role in shaping one's character. Virtual learning cannot replace a good teacher. The method of teaching, the relationship between the teacher and the student go a long way in moulding the future of any student. This the computer cannot do.
For example, the way of teaching has not changed much even after the introduction of computers. The computers can only be a supplement in the absence of a teacher. The teacher has to feed the material into the computer. The computer cannot do it on its own.
In India, teachers are referred to as `Guru' and from time immemorial they have been revered. Gurus have always been at par with parents because they are the ones who mould the young ones into the intellectuals of tomorrow.
Scientists are the ones who startle the world with new cures to maladies, hitherto incurable or discover theories, which lead to a revolution in our thinking. Who developed their ability to think on those lines? Who encouraged them? Who nurtured their minds and answered their queries? Their teachers and not virtual devices.
Teachers are a special breed of people to whom the society should be grateful for all their motivation and help in unearthing our hidden talents.
