Sleep efficiently

Sleep is an important activity of our daily chores. How efficient are you in your sleep? The most important indicator of your efficiency during sleep is how fresh you feel upon getting up from the sleep.

Here are a few tips for maximising your early morning freshness:

Reduce surrounding noise, but if it is present, try not to focus on it.

Wake up slowly like a cat, but once you get up don't dawdle in bed.

Keep your room moderately warm; cool air does not improve sleep.

In summer, don't sleep with air-conditioners set too cold.

Get a reasonable amount of physical exertion daily.

Take a light meal before bedtime.

Relax for half an hour before sleep. T.V. doesn't qualify as relaxation.

Keep a regular schedule.

Rise with the sun. Walk in the fresh air on rising.

Wake up to a melody.

Give yourself a good rub before showering.

Avoid hot baths. They can make you feel sleepy.

Give yourself extra 15 minutes in the morning before you start your day.

Meditate for five minutes.

Eat a power breakfast.
