Cannot be switched off

All the heavenly bodies around the earth are enormous spheres, one larger than other. The sun, which is the source of heat and light for us, is also a sphere.

The moon is round, at times crescent shaped but during a particular time, it completely disappears.

This is because the sun illuminates the moon on only one side and only the dazzling bright sun and the half of the moon brightly lit by the sun can be seen in the blue sky. The dark side of the moon cannot be seen as the hazy air hides the moon and other stars too, but they are all there during the day.

No one switches them off.

At night the air is in the shade. The sun emit light at night. It becomes transparent like a curtain from which everything can be seen and the stars begin to twinkle. Sometimes, the air at night is specially transparent and free of dust and cloud. Then we can see even the weakest and smallest of stars. On clear nights we can see the dark side of the moon.
