Why is distilled water not used for drinking?

K.Ananthanarayanan, Kanyakumari, T.N.

ANSWER: Distilled water is fairly to me; may contain at best some dissolved gases loke carbon dioxide.

Distilled water as such harmful if drunk. Because it contains no dissolved materials, it has a tendency to dissolve the tender mucous membranes on our mouth etc.

One may remember that our doctors advise to wash our moth with lukewarm water with common salt, when we complain about sore throat.

Wram water, especially if it is free of dissolved materials, will have a corrosive action on the delicate mucuous membranes
