New HC judges take oath

Chandigarh July 2 . Seven new judges of the Punjab and Haryana High Court were today administered the oath of office by the Chief Justice of the court, A.B. Saharya.

With the swearing in of Vinay Mittal, Virender Singh, Satish Kumar Mittal, Hemant Gupta, Surinder Singh Saron, Kiran Anand Lall and Surinder Grewal, the strength has gone up to 33.

Work has been withdrawn from three judges, A.S. Gill, M.L. Singhal and Mehtab Singh Gill, after their names reportedly figured in confessional statements of some alleged touts in the cash-for-job scam involving the PPSC chairman, Ravinder Pal Singh Sidhu.
