JD (U) splits
By K. Balchand
PATNA
July 23.
The ruling RJD is all set to have a majority of its own in the Bihar Assembly very soon with four legislators of the JD (U) Legislature Party breaking away and forming their own group, the JD (Jaya Prakash), as a first step in that direction. The leader of the breakaway faction, Shashi Kumar Rai, has formally submitted a letter to the Speaker, Sadanand Singh, seeking recognition for the new party and allocation of seats to its members in the House. Following the split, the JD(U) is left with just eight members.
