Sonia cancels J&K trip

NEW DELHI SEPT. 12. The Congress president, Sonia Gandhi, today cancelled her scheduled visit to Jammu and Kashmir, as the State Government expressed its inability to provide her with adequate security during the visit.

Ms. Gandhi was scheduled to address election rallies in the Mandher and Nowshera Assembly constituencies in Rajouri district today.

Party sources said here Ms. Gandhi had decided to cancel her visit as the Government had expressed its inability to provide adequate security in the wake of increased militant attacks recently.
