Youth held for Bangalore murder

By Our Special Correspondent

Chennai Oct. 8. A Karnataka police team made a vain attempt in the city on Tuesday to recover a revolver allegedly used by a Chennai youth to commit a murder at Bangalore last year.

The police team made a search in the Cooum River at Kotturpuram where the accused reportedly dumped the weapon after committing the crime.

It may be recalled that the son of a leading marble exporter was arrested a couple of months ago in Chennai in connection with the murder of a young businessman, Dinesh , at Bangalore last year. Dinesh was found shot dead a few days before his marriage.

The murder, which had remained a mystery for almost a year, was solved when the youth, Naveen (22), now under arrest, threatened another businessman against marrying the same girl who had been earlier engaged to him.

This led the police to suspect that Naveen could have committed the murder.

Following this, a police team from Bangalore came to Chennai and picked up Naveen, who allegedly confessed to the murder.

He had brought the weapon used to commit the crime to Chennai and dumped it in the Cooum.

Further investigation is on.
