Asked whether the killings of members of the minority community had been raised by the E.U. side, the EU External Relations Commissioner, Chris Patten, said the matter had been "mentioned'' at the "troika'' meeting. The External Affairs Minister, Yashwant Sinha, the Foreign Secretary, Kanwal Sibal, the Indian Ambassador to Denmark, the EU High Representative, Javier Solana, Mr. Patten and the Danish Foreign Minister, Per Stig Moller, were present at the "troika'' meeting. Mr. Patten told reporters informally that Mr. Sinha had explained the Indian position on Gujarat.
