Two ex-Ministers held in Nepal

Kathmandu Oct 31. Two ex-Ministers have been arrested in Nepal on corruption charges by the caretaker Government of King Gyanendra. Khum Bahadur Khadka, who was in charge of Water Resources and Home, and Jayaprakash Prasad Gupta, who headed Information and Communication, were detained on Wednesday by the Commission for Investigation of the Abuse of Authority.

Mr.Khadka, who is also the General Secretary of the Nepali Congress (Democratic), allegedly awarded the construction of the Bakraha River Control Project in Morang district in East Nepal without calling a tender while he was in the Girija Prasad Koirala Government. Mr. Gupta allegedly violated norms in awarding a contract to import mobile phones and licensing TV channels.— PTI
