Floating dock sinks

Port Blair Nov. 6. The Navy's first and only floating dock, FDN, sank near Haddo in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands today. However, no loss of life has been reported so far. Initial reports said the accident occurred around 11.a.m. after a failure in the control system of valves in some of the vacuum chambers that kept the massive structure afloat.

The Navy has started large-scale salvage operations.
