`Allow ryots to choose dealers'

Pondicherry Dec. 16. The Pondicherry Agriculturists Union has called upon the Administration to allow farmers under the subsidy scheme to purchase tractors and other equipment for farm operations.

T. Geethanathan, general secretary, said in a communication today that the Administration had decided to sanction Rs one lakh as subsidy to each of the 10 out of total 43 eligible farmers to purchase tractors. Similary equipment for winnowing and other implements for post harvest period would also be available under subsidised schemes.

He said farmers should be allowed to choose the dealers.
