Missing girl traced in Chennai

NEW DELHI JAN. 7. A 17-year-old girl who went missing from the Indira Gandhi International Airport here on Christmas Day has been traced to Chennai and handed over to her parents by the airport police. Hardeep had eloped with a Chennai-based Airtel executive who has been arrested.

It all happened on December 25 morning when the girl arrived in Delhi by a Frankfurt flight with her parents. She was missing while her father, Ranjeet Singh, had gone to buy a bus ticket for Connaught Place.

Mr. Singh lodged a complaint at the airport police station. During initial investigations, the police recovered some Chennai-based phone numbers from Hardeep's belongings.

Her parents also revealed that she was in touch with a person in Chennai through Internet.

The police zeroed in on some addresses in Chennai and sent a team there. It traced the girl who had been staying with Navendu Sanrexa.

The girl, who had been pursuing a course in nursing at Frankfurt, came in contact with Navendu through the Internet. They decided to get married. Navendu came to the airport from where both fled to Chennai.

The police said Navendu had been arrested and produced in the court as the girl is a minor.
