Cong. demands probe into videotape row

Lucknow April 6. The Uttar Pradesh unit of the Congress today demanded a CBI probe into the videotape controversy allegedly involving the Chief Minister, Mayawati.

Addressing a press conference here, the party's State president, Arun Kumar Singh `Munna', also demanded that the Governor, Vishnu Kant Shastri, reveal details about the query he had ordered in the case.

`Politically motivated'

The BJP's national general secretary, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, told newspersons here today that such cases should not be taken notice of because these were always politically motivated.

``Samajwadi Party leaders are desperate to grab power in Uttar Pradesh and are, therefore, stooping to such an unethical move to defame the Government without any concrete evidences'', he alleged. — UNI
