Threat perceptions remain the same, says Naval chief

KOCHI MAY 10. The Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Madhvendra Singh, has said that the new thaw in India, Pakistan relations will not make any difference in the threat perceptions as far as the Navy is concerned.

While the land border was sealed, the coastal line remained open, necessitating continued vigil along the coast.

Mr. Singh said the Navy's service was international and nothing had been decided in connection with the new developments. He was speaking to presspersons after inaugurating the golden jubilee of naval aviation here.

He said that it would take some more time for the induction of unmanned combat aircraft into the Navy. Four of the Russian made airborne early warning aircraft of the KA-31 category, three light combat aircrafts (ALH), and the surveillance aircraft, UAV, were in different stages of trials and induction.
