GSAT-2 orbit further raised

BANGALORE MAY 10. In the second orbit-raising manoeuvre conducted at 11.30 a.m. today, the 440 Newton liquid apogee motor (LAM) on the GSAT-2 was fired for 41 minutes on a command from the Master Control Facility (MCF) in Hassan.

With this, the perigee of GSAT-2 (closest point to earth) has been raised from 8,850 km to 34,000 km. The apogee is 36,000 km and the inclination of the orbit to the equatorial plane has been reduced from 7.37 degrees to 0.32 degrees.
