Bank Chairman arrested

JAIPUR MAY 10. The Chairman of the Bank of Rajasthan, Praveen Kumar Tayal, was arrested here today on charges of irregularities and breach of trust in allotment of shares of a company headed by him in Kota about seven years ago. The Bank of Rajasthan is the largest private bank in the State.

Mr. Tayal was arrested from a hotel here on the basis of non-bailable warrants issued by the Additional District and Sessions Judge in Kota on April 22.

Though Mr. Tayal was scheduled to be taken to Kota for being produced in the court, he was admitted to Sawai Man Singh Hospital after he complained of chest pain.

Later in the day, a lower court here granted conditional bail to him.
