Gangwar to give top priority to social security

By Our Staff Correspondent

NEW DELHI May 27. The Minister of State for Labour, Santosh Gangwar, feels labour has been ignored and deserved more space and attention. We need to bring about a revolution in this field, he said.

Talking to reporters after assuming office, Mr. Gangwar said his priority would be to provide social security to the 37-crore odd labourers in the unorganised sector. Elimination of child labour is another important aspect of this Ministry.

Admitting that he was still trying to understand the functioning of the Ministry, Mr. Gangwar said there was a need to reduce complexities of labour laws. There are about 50 Central labour laws and 150 laws on labour at the State levels.
