Sandhya humbles Tejdeep

KOCHI JUNE 14. Kozhikode's N. Sandhya, who had a stunning run in the women's National `B' championship on home boards early this month, surprised sixth-seeded Tejdeep in the third round of the 15th Cusat Open all-India FIDE-rated chess tournament here on Saturday evening.

The second-year B. Com student of Government Arts and Science College defeated the Andhra Pradesh lad in 44 moves of King's Indian and was among the leaders after the second day's games at the Cochin University's SMS Auditorium.

Nine-year-old K. Priyadarshan of Madurai, winner of the under-10 boys' silver in the Asian Youth meet at Kozhikode, also caught the eye with a 25-move draw against seventh-seeded P. Sreekumar, the Kerala champion.

The fourth and fifth rounds will be held at 9 a.m. and 2.30 p.m. respectively at Cochin University's SMS Auditorium, Kalamassery.
