Akali Dal leader ends life

Moga July 6. Senior Akali Dal (Badal) leader, Gurdyal Singh today allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself with his revolver, police said.

Mr. Singh, 75, a former sarpanch of Baghapurana, was suffering from cancer, according to his grand-daughter, Navdeep Kaur.

For the last one week he was in deep depression, and today at about noon, he bolted his room and killed himself, Ms. Kaur said.

Several Akali leaders, including the former Chief Minister, Parkash Singh Badal, have expressed their condolences at the death of the senior leader. — PTI
