Rupee closes at new peak

MUMBAI JULY 7. The rupee climbed to a new 32-1/2-month close of 46.32/33 a dollar today, driven up by sustained heavy dollar supplies, but ended off intraday high of 46.26/27 after late dollar demand from corporates and importers pared sharp early gains. The rupee gained a paisa from last Friday's close of 46.33/34, extending its bull-run to the fifth straight session. — PTI
