Five killed in road mishaps

BANGALORE JuLY 7. Five persons died in road accidents reported in the last 24 hours in the City.

A 63-year-old person was killed on the spot and his wife injured when a lorry hit their scooter near Kuvempu Circle in Jalahalli Police limits on Sunday.

The name of the dead was given as Ponna Rao.

Police have seized the lorry and arrested the driver. Investigation is on.

A youth, Keshav (24) of Kasturinagar, who was riding a scooter, died when he lost control of the vehicle and hit a roadside electric pole on Ullal Road in Jnanabharati Police limits. A case is registered.

A moped rider, Hanumappa (50) of Laggere, died on the spot when he was run over by a Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) bus bear Navrang Circle in Subramanyanagar Police limits.

In another incident, Munisa, who was crossing a road died on the spot when she a BMTC bus hit her near Marapanapalya in RMC Yard Police limits.

A woman, Lakshmi- devamma, died when the bicycle on which she was riding was hit by a van on BEL Road in Sanjaynagar Police limits the same day.

The rider, who was injured, is being treated at M.S.Ramaiah Hospital. Sanjaynagar Traffic Police are investigating.

Driver killed in collision

One person was killed on the spot and 20 injured when a min lorry collided with a private bus near Devanahalli in Bangalore Rural District on Monday. According to police, the dead was the driver of the mini lorry. The mishap occurred on Devanahalli-Vijayapura Road near Devanahalli at 7 a.m.

The injured have been admitted to Government Hospital. Devanahalli Police are investigating.
