Opinion - Letters to the Editor

Rail concession

Sir, — My wife, a senior citizen, travelled from Mukundarayapuram, a halting station next to Katpadi, to Chennai, by the Bangalore Express on July 16. On a request for a ticket in the AC coach, the booking clerk at the station issued her only a sleeper class (II class) ticket and asked her to occupy a seat in the AC coach and pay the difference in fare to the TTE.

But the TTE charged her the full fare without the senior citizen concession on the ground that there is no provision to allow the concession while travelling. It is high time the rules were amended.

G. Subramanyam,

Secunderabad, A.P.
