Children cultural show today

CHENNAI AUG. 21. `Children will perform for children' at Dhwani, a cultural fund-raiser organised as part of the golden jubilee celebrations of the Indian Council for Child Welfare, in the city on Friday.

The Tamil traditional theatre of Koothu, the martial dance from Kerala-kalaripayattu, the drum dance of Thanjavur- tappattam, padayani, ritual mask dance of Kerala-Padayani, a violin concert are among the events that children will perform as part of the show to be held at Narada Gana Sabha from 6 p.m. on August 22.

Started in 1953, the ICCW covers a range of activities for the welfare of abandoned, destitute, differently-abled and also children in difficult circumstances.

Over 8,000 children are covered every year through direct services of the organisation. Besides this, action-oriented research and policy interventions are undertaken to impact on childcare services in the State.
