By Our Staff Correspondent

MANGALORE AUG. 23. The Deputy Director-General, NCC, Karnataka and Goa Directorate, Air Commodore Manovinder Thamsher Bahadur Singh Jauhar, said on Saturday that the State Advisory Committee for National Cadet Corps (NCC) would meet in Bangalore on September 6 to review the functioning of NCC.

Addressing presspersons here, Commodore Jauhar, said the Minister for Higher Education, G. Parameshwar, would preside over the meeting. Vice-chancellors of the universities concerned, who were members of the committee, prominent persons from the education sector, and government officials would participate in it.

He said the authorities would request the Government to enhance the annual fund allocation for NCC activities under the State sector considering the quality of training imparted to cadets. The NCC had moved from the old form of training to new activities such as use of micro light aircraft to Air Force cadets, ocean sailing, wind surfing, and so on. These activities needed more funds. Besides, the activities of NCC had spread to more number of educational institutions in backward and remote areas of the State. Commodore Jauhar said NCC would organise an all-India girls' expedition to the Mount Everest next year.
