Independent team begins probe into child swap case

HYDERABAD OCT. 27. An independent team comprising two professors of Obstetrics and Gynaecology from the Gandhi Medical College/Gandhi Hospital has started its enquiry into the case of alleged baby-swapping in the Government Maternity Hospital, Sultan Bazaar, and will submit its report to the Director of Medical Education in five days.

The move follows the submission of a preliminary report on the incident by the Superintendent of the Government Maternity Hospital, a press release from the Director of Medical Education said.

Meanwhile, the Superintendent of the Government General Hospital, Kakinada, after a preliminary enquiry into a similar case, suspended a post-graduate student, staff nurse and ayah on duty on the said day.
