No CBI probe, reiterates Krishna

BANGALORE Nov. 25. The Chief Minister, S.M. Krishna, rejected again on Tuesday the demand for referring the fake stamp paper case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). He, however, assured the CBI that the Government would fully share all (information) it had on the racket and depend on it when its assistance was needed to pursue the prosecution it had launched.

Addressing a press conference, Mr. Krishna observed: "Let the CBI start with Nashik as to how the sophisticated printing machinery got into the evil hands of Abdul Karim Telgi.

The CBI should address itself to this to start with, and then help the various State Governments."

He said the Government was pursuing the cases vigorously and felt that the inquiry by the CBI and by the State need not necessarily be conflicting. While the Government would like to cooperate with the CBI, it too should cooperate with the Government.
