1,247 works sanctioned under ASC scheme

NELLORE NOV. 26. The Rural Water Supply (RWS) Circle of Nellore has so far sanctioned 1,247 works under the `Adverse Seasonal Conditions--2003-2004' scheme on a priority basis at an estimated cost of about Rs. 6.45 crores.

The works include 162 augmentation works of protected water supply schemes, 87 extension schemes, 291 flushing of borewells, 561 new borewells and 139 other works.

An amount of about Rs. 4.46 crores has also been released under the ASC scheme and total releases are booked for expenditure including transportation of drinking water. However, an amount of about Rs. 1.64 crores is required to complete the balance works, which are nearing completion.

Under the SGRY scheme, 1,182 numbers of cattle troughs were taken up at an estimated cost of Rs. 59.10 lakhs and all have been completed duly utilising the rice component of 200.67 tonnes.

Under the MPLADS, a total of 288 works were taken up at an estimated cost of Rs. 2.26 crores and so far 241 works have been completed, while 20 works are still under progress.

Under the ZP general funds, 375 works have been sanctioned so far on a priority basis, at an estimated cost of Rs. 1.70 crores. While 200 works have been completed, 175 works are in progress.

The department also took up 44 works at an estimated cost of about Rs. 1.93 crores under the Accelerated Rural Water Scheme, whereas under the Minimum Needs Programme, 63 works have been taken up at an estimated cost of Rs. 1.75 crores.
