According to the police, a special police party on a combing operation stumbled on a group of naxalites meeting in the forest between Konduru and Nindujerla in Bellamoknda mandal around 2 am. On seeing the police, the naxalites opened fire, which was returned by the police party. On searching the area, the police recovered the body of one Maria Das, alias Prasad, alias Krishna. The police said that the slain naxalite was the member of an action committee of the Guthikonda Dalam Area Committee. The police recovered a single-barrel gun, a couple of kitbags, three tiffin-box bombs and four soap-box bombs near the body. The police said a few naxalites, however, escaped.
Surrendered naxal killed
Our Nalgonda Staff Reporter writes:
The People's War on Tuesday night shot dead a surrendered naxalite, Baddam Satyanarayana (24), dubbing him a police informant, in Samstan Narayanpur. Satyanarayana, who was the commander of the Krishnapatti Special Guerrilla Squad, gave up arms along with the squad member, Juttu Yadamma alias Jyothi (19), on September 6 in response to the "Palletalli Pilustondi'' programme launched by the then SP, V.C.Sajjanar. Incidentally, the SP had initiated the programme at Satyanarayana's residence after giving sweets and new clothes to his mother on the occasion of Deepavali in November 2002. The two surrendered naxalites got married only a week ago in the village, a haven of the Rachakonda dalam. According to the ASP (Operations), P.Viswaprasad, a team of three naxals led by Anthati Jangaiah alias Suresh, central organiser of the Rachakonda dalam, visited Satyanarayana's home and took him to the outskirts of the village. When his mother and wife prevented this, Suresh who hails from the same village, reportedly assured them that he would not harm her son. The body with two bullet injuries on the chest was found in the morning near the village.
