Back Kerala Cabinet okays Rs 4,800-cr annual Plan

A MEETING of the State Cabinet has approved the Rs 4,800-crore annual Plan for the next financial year (2004-05).

Briefing newspersons on the proceedings, the Chief Minister, Mr A.K. Antony, said the next year's plan would give focussed attention to the social sector, agriculture and rural infrastructure and transport. The social sector would get Rs 1,022 crore, while the power sector would receive Rs 704 crore. Other major allocations are for transport (Rs 392 crore), rural development (Rs 354 crore) and agriculture (Rs 206 crore).

Budget on Jan 23: The Chief Minister announced that the State Budget for 2004-05 would be presented on January 23.

Mr Antony said the Cabinet would recommend to the Governor convening of the Budget session from January 15.

The session would conclude on April 7. After the presentation of the Budget, the Assembly would be in recess from January 30 to March 1.
